Description: The purpose of this paper is to contextualize the library and information science (LIS) education development and trends in parts of the Asian subcontinent, specifically Bangladesh and the Maldives; with a view to identify the opportunities and challenges ahead in this endeavour. It will specifically look at the short term in-service LIS education provision as well as professional accredited long-term programs offered in both countries.
