A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried among the 18-49 years old married women of N.Manadhoo aimed to identify the knowledge, attitude and practice of family planning. The total number of the participants of the survey was 96 with 100% response rate. Among them, 92.8% people knew at least one barrier methods of contraception and 84.8% respondents knew at least one hormonal method of contraception. It was recorded 94.8% of the participants had ever heard about HIV/AIDS and 91.7% of the participants knew HIV/AIDS can be transmitted through sexual intercourse but only 66.7% of the participants knew condom is the only method of contraception which ca prevent transmission of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. When we look into their attitude regarding family planning, majority of them believes that using family planning is important as well as giving education regarding family planning to the married women and availability of contraceptives at their own island. However most of them did not agree to the fact that free family planning service should be available to unmarried people too. Majority (52.1%) of them had ever used family planning while condom is the recorded as the most commonly used method. Majority of them said their husband did not accompany with them for gaining the service. The most common reason for not using family planning was because they believe no method is 100% sure. Most of them prefer get family planning service from the hospital due to confidentiality and quality concern.
