Due diligence report (Output 2): Republic of Maldives—Enhancing climate resilience and food security project

Abstract

This report presents the due diligence assessment for Output 2 of the Enhancing Climate Resilience and Food Security Project in the Maldives. It evaluates potential land acquisition and resettlement impacts associated with subprojects in Kulhudhuffushi City, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The findings confirm that the project does not involve permanent land acquisition, displacement, or livelihood impacts, and therefore falls under Category C according to the Asian Development Bank’s safeguard policies. Any temporary construction-related impacts will be mitigated through an Environmental Management Plan. The report also outlines proposed flood protection measures, including drainage improvements and coastal protection, aimed at strengthening climate resilience and supporting sustainable development.
