Abstract

The project seeks to promote regional development to support equitable access to social services and, therefore, relieve Male' of intense development population and environmental pressures. The project goal is to increase the standard of living in the Central regions. The project goal is to improve environmental and land management through a community-centered approach. The project includes a balance of institutional, infrastructure, and environmental improvements in the focus islands and their region. The project will help safeguard public health and the environment, support community and private sector participation in waste management and sanitation, and increase public awareness of responsible environmental management practices. The project combines policy improvement, capacity building, and investment in physical facilities.
