dc.description.abstractA1. Background The non technical summary outlines the finding of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed development of a 200 bed resort at Ha. Berimmadhoo. The Berimmadhoo Island Resort will be operated by Ahmed Niyaz Didi, M. Niyazvilla, Male’. A2. Project Detail Ha Berimmadhoo is situated at about 38 km from HDh Hanimadhoo airport and 320 km from the capital Male’ and is the northern most island oriented in the Northwest Southeast direction in the archipelago. In terms of geographic coordinates, it is found at 7o 02.50’ N and 72o 58.50’ E and lies on the northern most fringe of the H.A Atoll. Ha Berimmadhoo will be developed as a 5 star luxurious resort offering a unique and exclusive product. Below are main components of the project (construction stage); Front of House (FOH) 1. Guest accommodation units • 46 water villas (at the north western side of the island, connection to the island by a walkway) • 54 beach villas o 16 villas at the south western side o 20 villas at the south eastern side o 10 villas at the north eastern side o 8 villas at the northern side 2. Harbour facility and arrival jetty • Harbour facility at the western side of the island, at the existing small entrance • Jetty connecting harbour to the island (arrival jetty) 3. Construction of restaurants • Speciality restaurant (north eastern side of the island) • Main restaurant (eastern side of the island) • In-Jungle restaurant (north eastern side)• In-Jungle restaurant (north eastern side) 4. Spa facilities (south central side of the island) • 4 treatment units • 8 treatment rooms • Pool and relaxation pavilion 5. Dive school (north of arrival jetty) 6. Reception and front office building (south of arrival jetty) 7. Swimming pool facility (south of reception and front office building) • Swimming pool and sun bathing pavilions • Bar and coffee shop 8. Activity centre (east of reception lobby) Back of office (BOH) 1. Staff accommodation units • 8 executive staff units (north side of the BOH area) • 7 General staff units (south of executive staff area) 2. Staff recreation centre (western side of BOH area) 3. Sewage treatment facility (east side of the BOH area) 4. Power and Desalination plant (eastern side of BOH area) 5. Staff dinning facility • Staff kitchen • Staff mess hall 6.
