Abstract

A1. Background The non technical summary outlines the finding of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed development of a 200 bed resort at Ha. Berimmadhoo. The Berimmadhoo Island Resort will be operated by Ahmed Niyaz Didi, M. Niyazvilla, Male’. A2. Project Detail Ha Berimmadhoo is situated at about 38 km from HDh Hanimadhoo airport and 320 km from the capital Male’ and is the northern most island oriented in the Northwest Southeast direction in the archipelago. In terms of geographic coordinates, it is found at 7o 02.50’ N and 72o 58.50’ E and lies on the northern most fringe of the H.A Atoll. Ha Berimmadhoo will be developed as a 5 star luxurious resort offering a unique and exclusive product. Below are main components of the project (construction stage); Front of House (FOH) 1. Guest accommodation units • 46 water villas (at the north western side of the island, connection to the island by a walkway) • 54 beach villas o 16 villas at the south western side o 20 villas at the south eastern side o 10 villas at the north eastern side o 8 villas at the northern side 2.
