Environmental impact assessment study : airport hotel development at Kaadedhoo, Gdh Atoll

Abstract

The non technical summary outlines the finding of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed development of an 88 bed Airport Hotel at Gdh. Kaadedhoo. The Kaadedhoo Airport Hotel will be operated by Dream Ocean Holidays Pvt Ltd, a 100% Maldivian owned company. he island of Kadedhoo is located on the atoll peripheral reef in the western quadrant of Huvadhu Atoll. This is one of the six largest islands of Huvadhoo Atoll that has (land area inside the edge of vegetation) of 1.7sqKm. The island has a south – north orientation with a length of 2Km and a width of 1.1Km. The reef system hosting this island has an area of 5.3sqKm, with a length of approximately 3.6Km and a width of 1.6Km. The island is located towards the southern end of the reef system. Four other small islands that have area’s 6,940sqm, 48,046sqm, 12,836sqm and 66,670sqm. The island of Kadedhoo occupies approximately 32% of the reef system. Gdh. Kaadedhoo will be developed as a 5 star luxurious hotel offering a unique and exclusive product.
